The coffee cherry

Two beans represent the heart of the sweet fruit.

Until now, there has been no spotlight on the coffee cherry´s pulp and skin – despite their obvious aroma complexity, nutritional value and caffeine content.

At the slopes of volcan Barú, the skin and pulp are treated with care just as the coffee beans are.

After harvest, the ripe cherries are dried during 11 days on raised drying beds.

Travel season

After processing, the cascara is shipped from Panama to Europe.

And ends up in a family-run production site in rural Southern Germany.

Cascara extraction

Hot spring water is poured over the dried coffee fruit.

Sweetness and fruity notes of honey and orange are extracted, as well as the cherry´s natural caffeine.

We source our single origin cascara from Los Lajones in Panama, where it is organically grown and naturally processed.
